This is an original Spanish bronze barrel from the 1860’s. The owner bought it at auction and tracked me down for the carriagework. This gun would have originally been mounted on a field howitzer carriage, but he did not have room to display anything that big. This half-scale naval gun carriage makes a handsome base for display and shooting. Note the hand crank at the back of the quoin. It allows the elevation to be accurately set, and insures that the quoin stays on the carriage during recoil.
